Introduction of PCI’s Rector about Kosen-PCI model

TS. Nguyễn Tiến Tùng - Hiệu trưởng

Dr. Nguyen Tien Tung – Rector

In 2015, Law on Vocational Training and Education was issued that marked a huge change in the field of training human resources for manufacture, trades and services and contributed to fundamental and comprehensive innovation on education in Vietnam. According to the Law, college graduates will be recognized by the title of Practical Engineer or Bachelor of Engineering Practice.

In Japan, system of Kosen schools was established in the 1960s of the last decade with the following objectives: training skilled workforce who can directly operate machinery under the guidance of technical staff, have organizational discipline, practical skills and creativity to solve problems arising in manufacturing process. Kosen enrolls students graduating from secondary school (15 years old) and trains them in 5 years. After graduation, Kosen students are also Practical Engineers.

Currently, Vietnam has become a full member of ASEAN, APEC, ASEM, and WTO. It will be a member of TTP in the upcoming time. International economic integration gives Vietnam an opportunity to become a country with development of economy, exports and foreign direct investment attraction. In particular, Vietnam is developing auxiliary industries and gradually becomes the leading processing place in the world. Vietnam has attracted hundreds of investors from Japan, South Korea, Singapore … in the fields of electronics, mechanical engineering, automotives, etc. Therefore, Vietnam must possess a high quality workforce like Kosen Practical Engineers to participate directly in manufacture.

From the beginning of 2016, Phuc Yen College of Industry (PCI) has prepared and enrolled the first training course under Kosen model with the consent of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and technical supports from JICA. The objective of this project is to train practical engineers working under Kosen standards.

As the Rector of the PCI, I am committed to bringing you a new learning environment under Japanese style and training quality under Japanese standards. We will work together in an integrated world to build a growing Vietnamese country.

Sincere thanks!

Dr. Nguyen Tien Tung

Rector
